About Us
Troop 214 was established in Eastern Iowa in 1950 and is part of the Hawkeye Area Council. Our current membership is approximately 33 scouts from the College Community School district and surrounding area. The scouts in Troop 214 take pride in being scout-led. With the support of a strong adult leader group, scouts plan campouts, special events, fundraisers, and community service projects. Below are just a few of the activities we participate in each year.

Rank Advancement
Scouts are given many opportunities to advance within the scouting program. The Patrol Leaders Council is responsible for scheduling opportunities to help each scout meet their goals in scouting. Each scout is allowed to advance at a pace that suits their individual needs. We recognize that scouts are involved in other activities outside of scouting so we provide a program structure that recognizes and supports their needs.
Monthly Campouts
The troop prides itself on giving scouts many opportunities for both indoor and outdoor activities which includes regularly scheduled campouts.
From kayaking trips down the river to sleeping in a cave in Wisconsin, there is no shortage of opportunities for scouts to have fun. We also organize an annual gaming overnight that is a scout favorite. There might even be an occasional scouting themed escape room.
Summer Camp
For the last several years, the troop has decided to attend summer camp at Many Point, which is located near Ponsford, MN. Many Point property encompasses 1,669 acres with nine miles of shoreline on two lakes.
Scouts experience traditional activities dating back to the 1940's like swimming, canoeing, orienteering, and shooting.
Scouts also have the opportunity to participate in all the newly added activities. Many Point has a huge fleet of Sunfish sailboats, six climbing towers, ATV programs, several 25' aqua trampolines, two Huck Finn rafts, Jet Ski's, kayaks, and two tree house villages.
In the morning, scouts have the chance to earn anywhere from 2 merit badges to as many as 4 during the course of the week.
In the afternoon, scouts participate in Troop level activities, which include 9 square, aqua trampoline, archery, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, snorkel trip, climbing tower, delta, fishing, gaga ball, greased watermelon, crafts, and sailing, among many others. For more information on Many Point please visit our Many Point page.
Merit Badges
We offer scouts a variety of merit badges, which are often incorporated into campouts and other special events. The Troop has several adult leaders and parents registered as merit badge counselors with the Hawkeye Area Council. This enables us to help scouts advance at a pace that is preferable to each individual.
